Yinnar South Primary School is a small rural school in the Latrobe Valley in Gippsland, 165 kms east of Melbourne, nestled in the Jeeralangs hills 12 kms south of the township of Churchill. We offer a safe, inclusive education. We are proud of our history and dynamic links with the community.
The school facilities consist of the original refurbished school building as our art room, 2 teaching classrooms, library and an administration block. The Yinnar South community hall is situated on the school site and is an asset to the school and a treasured meeting place for the broader community.
The staff at Yinnar South Primary School are enthusiastic and passionate, committed to ensuring every child is catered for. Our current enrolment is 27 students who are supported by 2 fulltime teachers, 1 part time specialist teacher, principal, 3 education support staff and a Golden Retriever Therapy dog. Students are involved in all areas of the curriculum and enjoy specialists programs in Cooking, Sport, Science, Art, Marc Van and Music.
The School Strategic Plan goals are targeted towards building whole school approaches to the teaching of Maths and English, with a focus of the current years AIP being the creation of agreed curriculum and teaching approaches in all classrooms across the school in Numeracy and Writing.
The school aims to consistently encourage lifelong learners who are equipped with the social and academic skills necessary to empower and prepare them for life beyond primary school. Our school is extremely well resourced with ICT a particular focus. Our teaching program utilises laptops, smart screens and Apple iPads.
Throughout all of our learning, we foster a community spirit and support students to start, to try and to not give up!
